About Band
"Welcome Karen was founded in 2005 as a hobby project of Drummer Erik and the two Guitarmen Chris and Simon,
where the three played beside their known main band "Instructive".
After jamming togehter for a good year and testing out the borders of all metal types,
various name changes and a long search, the proper growling frontman was found - Mischa.
Now they were able to tear down the walls that hold them back.
They quitted their 6-year-career in "Instructive" and started to play gigs with
WK. Another shouter for hardcore and clean parts, Tobi, was quickly recruited.
With him a new wave of inspiration and creativeness overflowed WK, so that many songs
were written, old ones restructured and the motivation reached a climax.
Numerous shows were played, e.g. with bigger names like No Turning Back, Fear My Thoughts
or Die Happy. In January '08 Bass player Müschaaa joined and completed the lineup of the
six Welcome Karen fellas. But this delight was short-lived, cause of Mischas parting from
the band. Luckily our talented whippersnapper Tobi2 was right on the spot and fills it now with proud
and fervor.
A short while later. We found Dustin our new Frontman and Lucas our new drummer.
With this history Welcome Karen is on the move to grab it all - your ears _and_ your hearts.
Musically we play an explosive cocktail of american-inspired metal and hardcore, but with special attention on breakdowns
and melody. We like to call it moshcore, cause it's the most fitting expression for our style.
From kick ass double bass parts, to blast beats, to brutal slow-mo beatdown moshparts you can
find all in our drumming repertoire. The string section prepares daily highlights for you, such
as earthshaking riffs, groundbreaking breakdowns, saccharine melodic bridges or tabbings from outer space.
Due to _two_ vokill-freaks and additional backings, our vocal range varies from deepest growls, to evil pig squeals, to
high death tunes, and from power hardcore shouts, to crewshouts, to spoken lines and surely to some
angelic clean singing.
Our biggest idols and inspirations are by far August Burns Red, Misery Signals, Parkway Drive and Emmure,
and also you can hear some ideas of Bring Me The Horizon, For The Fallen Dreams and of course This Or The
Apocalypse here and there. We finally want to say "THANKS!" to all our supporters, families and fans - we really, really
appreciate every comment here on myspace, every message we get, every show we can play, every sold merch -
EVERY contact with the fans or other bands! Without YOU, we wouldn't be here! Thank you!!
